Surroundings
Villa Gorgona isn’t just a place for lazy summer days – it’s also the perfect base for anyone wanting to experience authentic Tuscan life.
The villa is set on a hillside, right next to the historic Santa Lucia church. This small temple is a fascinating mix of styles: a medieval façade with a beautifully restored Art Nouveau interior.
Not far from the villa runs the ancient Via Francigena, the medieval pilgrimage route that once led travellers from Canterbury all the way to Rome. Close by, you'll also find the scenic viewpoint Belvedere Panoramico – an ideal spot to take in sweeping views of the green hills of historic Versilia, the shimmering waters of Lake Massaciuccoli, and the blue expanse of the sea.

In the neighbouring village of Pieve a Elici, the Church of San Pantaleone is well worth a visit. Often described as a gem of Romanesque architecture, it's considered one of the region’s most remarkable monuments.
For a taste of local life, head to Bar Giusti in nearby Monte Pitoro. It’s the kind of place where regulars gather for a proper Italian coffee or a glass of Tuscan wine. Next door, there’s a restaurant serving regional dishes and excellent pizza, and just around the corner, a small shop where you can pick up essentials.
