Viareggio
Beaches in Viareggio
This coastal town attracts visitors with its wide sandy beaches and an elegant promenade lined with restaurants, bars, and cafés. Outside the summer season, Viareggio is famous for its spectacular carnival, attended by thousands of revellers each year who converge for the colourful, high-spirited parade. It’s a must-visit for anyone who can’t imagine a holiday without sun, sea, and sand. Viareggio offers two types of beaches: private and public.

Private beaches are ideal for those seeking full facilities, including parasols, sun loungers, showers, and beachside bars. Many also offer Wi-Fi. Some popular options include Bagno Leda, Bagno Marechiaro, and Bagno Maurizio.
Public beaches provide more basic access – often with a beach bar, pay-per-use showers, and toilets – but you’ll need to bring your own gear if you want to lounge in comfort.
For a wilder beach experience, head to Spiaggia della Lecciona. This natural stretch of coastline, dotted with dunes and coastal plants, lies within the beautiful Migliarino Regional Park, San Rossore, and Massaciuccoli – a perfect choice for nature lovers.
