CINQUE TERRE

Cinque Terre

Cinque Terre is one of the most stunning locations in all of Italy – and it’s just a 90-minute drive from Montigiano. This picturesque stretch of the Ligurian coast is home to five small seaside villages: Vernazza, Riomaggiore, Corniglia, Monterosso, and Manarola. These charming towns draw visitors from all over the world with their dramatic cliffside views, sparkling sea, and rows of brightly coloured historic houses.

A trip to Cinque Terre is best planned in advance. Those who want to make the most of the area’s sights – or see more than just the villages themselves – can take advantage of the Cinque Terre Trekking Card and the Cinque Terre Train Card, both available at the train station in nearby La Spezia. It is also a great starting point for exploring the region.

With the  Cinque Terre Train Card, you can visit all five villages in a single day – trains stop at each one roughly every 30 minutes, and travel time between towns is usually just five minutes.

What makes Cinque Terre truly unforgettable are the fairytale-like views that stay with you long after your trip.

The Cinque Terre Trekking Card is ideal for those who love nature and enjoy active holidays. It allows access to the famous Blue Trail (Il Sentiero Azzurro), a paid hiking route that links all five villages. This spectacular path is lined with panoramic viewpoints, and walking it feels like stepping into the untouched Mediterranean wilderness. It’s worth remembering that the entire area is protected. Established in 1999, the Cinque Terre National Park is the oldest national park in Italy – and one well worth visiting.
